City Vet welcomes you, your family, and your pets to our website. City Vet was founded in 1991 and has been looking after and treating pets in the Limerick area since. The practice is now located in a hospital facility on Lord Edward Street where the caring and experienced vets and nurses cater for your pet’s veterinary needs.
All of our staff are trained to a very high standard and are dedicated to the well-being of our patients. Our patients’ health and comfort is very important to us and it is our mission to ensure that you and your pet’s visit to City Vet is as pleasant as possible.
Meet Our Veterinary Team
Donal RyanMVB MRCVS
Donal graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCD and spent many years after qualifying working exclusively in small animal practice in both California and England developing his skills. He founded City Vet on his return to Ireland and has a keen interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and runs a referral service for many veterinary practitioners in the region. Animal welfare and a high standard of patient care are at the core of Donal’s approach to treating his patients.
Gwen graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCD in 1991 and spent a year as an Intern in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Medicine, UCD. She subsequently worked in practices in Kildare and south Tipperary. Alongside her work in practice, she is a Veterinary Inspector for the Department of Agriculture and for Tipperary County Council. She also set up an employment agency for veterinary practitioners and veterinary nurses and she spent some time teaching FETAC Animal Welfare to mature students. She has recently moved to Charleville, Co. Cork with her husband, four children, four horses, one dog and two ferrets!
Gwen loves working with animals and meeting with their owners and is particularly interested in veterinary dermatology and radiology.
Michelle BroganBScVN RVN
Michelle graduated from the School of Science, Athlone Institute of Technology as a Veterinary Nurse. She joined City Vet in 2010.
Michelle is very interested in surgery and surgical cases and is passionate about patient comfort. She gets to know the patients and she works very hard every day to ensure every pet’s stay at City Vet is as comfortable as possible.
Kelsey is a veterinary care assistant and has competed one year’s veterinary nursing training to date.
She has gained valuable experience at City Vet over a number of years and hopes to continue her veterinary nursing education later this year.
City Vet contributes to the development of veterinary pet health care by providing informative and practical training experience to veterinary medical, veterinary nurses and animal care students and internship programmes for veterinary practitioners and veterinary nurses.
