About CityVet

CityVet welcomes you, your family, and your pets to our website. This practice was established in 1991 and has been caring for Limerick's pets since that time. It is now located in a recently developed hospital facility where caring and experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses cater for all your pet's veterinary needs. Services include vaccinations, neutering, dentals, ophthalmology, orthopaedic and general surgery. Nutritional and behavioural advice is also available. Pet food and pet accessories are also sold in CityVet.

Meet Our Veterinary Team

Donal Ryan MVB MRCVS
Donal Ryan is the principal veterinary surgeon at CityVet. He has over 25 years experience caring for and treating small animal patients in California, the U.K. and Ireland. He has a keen interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and runs a referral service for many veterinary surgeons in the region. Animal welfare and a high standard of patient care are at the core of Donal's approach to treating his patients.

Gwen Spicer MVB MRCVS
Gwen qualified from UCD in 1991 and spent a year in the Veterinary College as an Intern in Small Animal Clinical Medicine.  Subsequently she worked in practices in Kildare and South Tipperary.  Alongside her work in practice, she worked as a Veterinary Inspector for the Department of Agriculture and for South Tipperary County Council, she set up her own employment agency for vets and vet nurses and she spent some time teaching FETAC Animal Welfare to mature students.  She has recently moved to Charleville in North Cork with her husband, four children, four horses, one dog and two ferrets!
Gwen loves working with animals and meeting with their owners and is particularly interested in veterinary dermatology and radiology.

Nursing Staff
All of our staff are trained to very high standard and are dedicated to the well-being of our patients. The nursing and support staff at CityVet are Aideen McDonogh, Suzanne O'Hagan and Michelle Brogan. Our patients comfort is very important to the nurses and it is all of our mission to ensure that your pet's visit to CityVet is as pleasant as possible.

CityVet services all areas of Limerick City and County including Ballinacurra, Caherdavin, Castletroy, Corbally, Dooradoyle, Ennis Road, Mungret, Parteen, Raheen and Roxboro.
